For the first recital in our brand-new Saturday Brunch Series, we are thrilled to welcome Swiss organist, Prof. Jean-Christophe Geiser of Lausanne Cathedral.
The series of organ proms brings leading concert organists from across Europe to the Temple Church to perform on its famous organ. A special opportunity to step into the tranquility of the Temple at the weekend and experience this magnificent instrument in the hands of celebrated international recitalists not often heard in the UK.
The series opens in style with an all-French programme on a "gothic" theme, with toccatas and carillons aplenty. The concert is book-ended by Boëllmann's ever-popular Suite gothique and Vierne's Carillon de Westminster, which is based on the chimes of Big Ben!
Léon Boëllmann: Suite gothique
Guy Ropartz: Prélude funèbre
Charles-Marie Widor: Symphonie gothique (Organ Symphony No 9)
Louis Vierne: Carillon (from Pièces en style libre)
Louis Vierne: Epitaphe (from Pièces en style libre)
Louis Vierne: Carillon de Westminster (from Pièces de Fantaisie)
The performance lasts approximately 60 minutes (without interval).
